Pauline Sargent:  Open Data. Open Access For Everyone

Open Data. Open Access For Everyone.

The role of librarians/researchers/policy makers/governments is changing from purchasing content/storing content behind closed doors  to facilitating access to high quality open access content. Research papers and academic articles are hidden behind technical, legal and financial barriers. These barriers prevent the majority of the population from accessing new research,  academic articles and government documents.

More and more people are finding ways around these barriers and the drive for Open Access Journals/Data is increasing and developing at a rapid pace.

There are many challenges for making data open and accessible. With the amount of new technologies available what is the best strategy for making it open and increasing the reach via social media and other technologies.
